A South East Learning Partnerships and Networks (SELPN) conference in Woking in March 2009 brought together learning organisations from across the region to hear from speakers from DIUS and NIACE to explore the future for learning and skills policy. Bobbie McClellend from DIUS explained the transition from Learning and Skills Council to Skills Funding Agency, and Jenny Williams unpicked key points from the NIACE Inquiry into the Future of Lifelong Learning, whilst Brighton and Hove Learning Partnership presented on the Informal Learning and Skills Command Paper.
The day was a valuable opportunity to hear about national policy and research and for learning bodies across the region to network and plan together.
SELPN continues to meet quarterly to share best practice and strengthen partnership working across the South East region.
